Riddlesden Toad Patrol

The Riddlesden Toad Patrol is a group of enthusiastic and hardy folk who share a passion for saving the lives of amphibians in Riddlesden. Every spring when darkness falls, hundreds of toads embark on their migration down from the gardens on the hillside and they head towards the canal to breed. Many don’t make it and are killed on the streets by cars. The Riddlesden Toad Patrol volunteers have a mission to search for the toads before they come a cropper, collect them in buckets and take them to the canal. They also take any newts and frogs that they come across to their own breeding sites.
