The project is led by Charlotte Themagpie, Victoria Raw and Rachael plus volunteers. This is a project based on community kindness. There are over 200 schools in our area, we are aiming to support them all, by placing Red Boxes in schools full of sanitary products so that young women do not miss education because they cannot access the products elsewhere. The products are collected throughout the district; at collection/ donation points in supermarkets, workplaces and community spaces.
In November 2018 Keighley Big Local awarded the red box project £50 to purchase 10 red boxes. We then got in touch with Marie Mccool from the Coop. A box was placed in each of the Co-op stores in and around Keighley. The donated sanitary products are distributed to the schools attended by young people living in the Big Local area.
