A Perfect Christmas at the Hainworth Wood Centre

A KEIGHLEY community centre is offering a ‘dress rehearsal’ for local people planning to cook Christmas dinner.

How to Cook the Perfect Christmas Dinner is a session on December 8 at Hainworth Wood Community Centre.

Organiser Rachael Neild said: “We hope our dress rehearsal will take the panic out of Christmas and help everyone leave us prepared for the big day.

“At the end of the cooking we will sit down for a fabulous Christmas lunch.”

The session, running from 10am to noon, is one of several seasonal events planned for December, with support from Keighley Big Local.

The Big Local All For Play team are running well-attended Crafty Christmas Workshops on Fridays. Families can make decorations using natural materials, from 3.30pm to 5pm.

There will be Christmas songs with a hot buffet on December 5 from 1pm to 3pm. A Christmas fun day on December 15 from 1pm to 4pm will include handmade gifts, a raffle, cakes, tombola, and Santa’s grotto. Call 07501138095 to hire a table.

Big Local coordinator Shaun O’Hare said the community centre was a local charity providing activities and services to the surrounding community.

He added: “The support from the Keighley Big Local partnership is helping to expand activities for more people.”

Regular activities include youth groups, the DART dining and recreational group for over 50s, community crafts, a drop-in café, a group for adults with learning disabilities, charity shop, uniform swap service, and a knitting group.

The centre was set up as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation with a voluntary management committee, after the building was handed to the local community by social landlord Incommunities.
